Channeling My Inner 25 Year Old Boy

Being in the business of making advertisements is kind of fucking up all and any values I have in my life. The same way being drunk does.

Quick Sketch Diary From Korea

Though it’s been 1 month since we traveled to Korea, I haven’t had time to update or even talk about it. We had packed schedules (courtesy of R’s mom), which was awesome, b/c we were able to experience a lot in the few days we were there. One thing that I absolutely loved about Korea was the tidiness of everything. Clean & linear designs in the furniture, the architecture of the buildings and also in the fashion. Everyone was extremely put together and neat looking. Coming from L.A., where hobo chic dominates the  fashion scene – this was a nice refresher.

We’re definitely planning to revisit again, hopefully in the next year.

South Korea

I finally got around to uploading all my pictures from South Korea. Looking back at these really makes me miss the luxury we had in Korea – or the luxury of being a tourist and exploring a completely different culture.

My hope for 2012 is to take more vacations, soak up as much knowledge and culture as I can from other places, and find a better work life balance.

I Love This

I love this fun illustrated video launch of Kenzo. Having worked on and off on a fashion brand this past year, I’m constantly striving to find the balance of what the client wants and also pushing for a more artistic or interesting way to do something. Sadly, money wins, which means artistic intentions sometimes suffer. This, video, however, is filled with bright fun colors and gets away from what most fashion labels are putting out there- which I absolutely love.

Typography

I’ve been gone for the past 2 weeks, flying back and forth from Boulder to L.A. In between an insane production schedule,  I’ve been trying to work on some new things. I’ve also been super busy trying to figure out what to do next with life. Where to move. What I want to focus more time on. The answer is and probably always will be: artwork.

The Good vs The Bad

I’ve been trying to keep up with the visual diary (a drawing a day summing up how the day went). So far, so good, though if we’re going to be honest here- there are days when I cheat and draw for the previous day. Having a visual diary is nice because I can easily tally up the good days vs. the bad- and usually what makes them good or bad. Lately it seems the bad are outnumbering the good. That has got to change.

Illustration Site Back Up

I put in a little bit of time trying to resurrect my illustration site. Although it’s not completely updated, I got a good amount up there. This might be narcissistic, but it’s been fun and inspiring to go through my old stuff- seeing how my drawing style has evolved over the years and also seeing how much I’m not doing and should be. Sometimes I Like To Pretend

that I live in a city that’s not Boulder. Where people actually take a bit of care and consideration into how they dress themselves. With my favorite season coming up, I’ve found a few wonderful looks from Madewell that I would love to purchase if I weren’t broke all the time. Soft cozy sweaters, past the knee pleated skirts, suspenders, and different widths of stripes.
